What is Counselling for Neurodivergent children mean?
Counselling for neurodivergent children is a collaborative process between your child and a Counsellor who uses evidence-based concepts and processes to help them change how they think, feel, and behave. It is a process which will help them to know themselves in a better way. They become more aware of the patterns, values, root causes, hidden beliefs, feelings, or obstacles to change. The sessions provides a safe, confidential, supportive, non-judgemental, and inclusive environment for their exploration and inner growth.
How many sessions will my child need? How often do they need to attend?
The number of sessions depends on them and what they want to do in relation to their personal growth at this time. Some clients come to address a specific issue, while some people come to engage in general, and want ongoing personal growth to effect impactful change.
Weekly sessions are recommended at the beginning, clients often shift to bi-weekly after they feel they have made progress on the issues they first came for. When clients feel more resilient, many come for less frequent check-ins as needed.
Are Counselling for children and Family support services covered by Autism Funding, At Home funding and Variety Children’s fund etc. ?
Yes! Counselling services are included under Autism Funding, At Home funding, and other grants for children in British Columbia.

The Autism Funding program will transition to a new program in 2027. Until then, the Autism Funding program continues unchanged and is accepting new applications until March 2027. Families will be contacted before then about eligibility. Learn more regarding the changes.
